Yesterday and this morning my twitter friends and I were tweeting about our earliest memories, well mine is either of my birth or at 7 months old when I was in the hospital with a blood clot in my sinus cavity. No one believed me until I was a teen and told my mother what I remembered seeing: namely puke green walls, lights and people with surgical masks over their faces. I remember crying and thinking I want my mommy!!! over and over….which is why I think I was 7 months old for this memory, I doubt I would know what a mommy was unless I was at least 7 months old.
I also remember being a little over 1 since I was able to stand in my crib, my mother and father were fighting and he hurt her, i remember screaming and my mom saying “look you are scaring her!!!! Not such a pleasant memory! As well as being about 2 maybe 2.5 and being yelled at to take a nap! I remember lying in the bed for a long time and then I either woke up or my mother came and got me, I remember someone telling her how cute I was.
I remember not talking and sucking my fingers a lot!!!! In the spring I took Clinical & Counseling 2 and questioned the prof. about why I could remember a few things from my infanthood and we concluded that because I did not talk, the memories stayed with me longer than most people. I now wonder if it was because I was so traumatized that I remember them? Irregardless, remember I do from a very early age.
So now you know what we tweet about on Twitter or at least most recently what we are twittering about.
Those are amazing early memories. I don’t know what my earliest memory was but I would say I was around 5 years old. I have a horrible memory!
Wow, that’s early! I’m sorry they’re not happier memories.
You are still cute Rose. =)
Thank you Donna!!!
Wow, those are some early memories! I am sorry that they aren’t happy for you. Mine are from Kindergarten which I think is normail for most people, right?
Yes, that is when most people start to remember things fairly clearly, although sometimes it happens around 3.5-4 yrs. old as well.
