Goals for 2009

I”m not overly happy with how things are going in my home right now. The boys are lacking motivation and to be honest so am I. I was reading in a book about a child with ADD and how the Pastor counseled him. So I am working on implementing a similar idea here at my home. I will have a chart of desired behaviors that will include chores and schoolwork. There will be three different marks, a smiley face, a sad face or a straight face . Each face will be assigned a point value, 3pts for a smiley face, 1 pt for a straight face and loss of 2 pts for a sad face. They can save their points for a big prize or they can use them for smaller prizes. This will be in effect for only for the year of 2009, in order to get them into a good work ethic and then they will just earn praise for a job well done. They will however at the end of the year if they actually learn to have a good work ethic will be able to do extra chores for earning what they want int he future. A good work ethic is so important and I want my kids to be able to motivate themselves instead of relying on me all the time.  I’m also working on goals for them for school for the new year, The Ark needs to work on his reading skills, since he is dyslexic that is his weak point. Ace needs to learn to focus and get his work done in a timely manner, The Princess just needs to continue what she is already doing, she loves learning and I want to see about art lessons for her. The Peanut aka Caedmon, needs to find something to do with his energy that is positive.

So that is my plan for our new  year. After I do up the worksheet I will post it and let you see it.

Something Positive

Yesterday I ran into my drawing 1 teacher, who I love dearly. She gave me a hug and we chatted for a few minutes. She asked when I was coming back to take drawing 2 and I told her I don’t know but someday and that I want to take painting as well one day. She loved that idea. She mentioned that she had taken a picture of my linear perspective drawing as well as my friend Gail’s ( we had done the same hallway just from a different angle) The two complemented each other. She showed them to her drawing 2 class and they replied with “you want us to draw that?”  I had to laugh at Mary, and I said “well your drawing 1 class did it, what is wrong with your drawing 2?” She had said the same thing to them. So we said goodbye…..and life goes one.

How I miss drawing, the chance to be still and be creative. I miss Mary as well, she is wonderful and I learned so much from her. One day……I will have time to draw again. (Thank you Melanie, for your words of wisdom to me last fall 2007, they played in my head quite a bit while I was drawing, and I did get an A in that class.)

A bit of happiness within my world of chaos. As for what is going on, I”m waiting a bit longer before I share as I’m  not sure if my ex-husband has found this blog and don’t need anymore hassles from him at the moment. Hopefully one day soon I can tell all, until then please keep us in your prayers. Thank you and God bless.

Yes, I am alive

I miss all of my friends here and elsewhere online but there is only so much time in a day. And somewhere in my DNA there is a genetic component of “what busy, let’s see how much more we can add to her life to deal with”.

My classes are good, just an incredible amount of work right now. I have wonderful teacher’s. Homeschooling is ok, we are behind but steadily working so that is good. I do have bad news aobut Camryn’s back though. We finally did a series of xrays and she has a 45 degree curve. So I found a new chiropractor closer to us but still a 30 minute drive. It is a woman and Camryn loves her already, she is very gentle, great with kids. We will be going once a week for a while. Please pray that her spine responds well to the weekly adjustments. I will be looking to treat her with homeopathy as well.

Well, ike has made it to NE Ohio so I’m shutting down the computer and going to read for psy. Have a great week everyone and I will check in soon.
