More schoolbooks

The kids are so excited about their new school books!! I have already read two picture books to the Princess and let her start on Mind Benders, she is pretty good at that, we did 6 in one day in about 5 minutes!! I finally ordered their math books from Math U See for next year. Can’t wait until they get here. Our Amazon order is on it’s way as well and that please me a great deal!! I ordered 2 more Jonathon Park sets and the kids really like them for when we drive to their chiro visit on fridays. Today we listened to The Magician’s Nephew. That was pretty good, we will finish it soon I hope. Although it was a bit scary for the Princess. She is funny lately and says “it is creeping me out, Mom”. I think we are going to add in Saturday schooling in the fall, the kids just get so distracted sometimes and don’t want to move on and then we end up behind. Only two more weeks until I’m done with this semester and then I will start to plan for fall, since everything will be here. Ok, real life beckons.

American Dagger Moth

We saw this caterpillar today, it was crawling along the metal bench, we sat and watched it as it moved along. Cami thought it moved like a rainbow, I suggested it moved in a wave. We waited until the kids were out of swim lessons and then moved it by a tree so it would be safe and have food. this is what we found out about it

American Dagger Moth, Acronicta americana, one of the Noctuids or Owlet Moths. It feeds on Maple and other hardwood forest tree leaves.

So Noah went down to the van to get his swim trunks and came back up. “the car was locked, and I’m not going back down there again,” he tells me. I look over at him kind of confused. He then says to me ” did you know that concrete is pokey when you walk on it with bare feet? It feels like glass!!”

So today we did some work. Adrien did some phonics and struggled through math (he hates math he said) Noah did some math and struggled through phonics(remember Noah is dyslexic) It is funny watching the boys work at the table together as they are total opposites when it comes to schoolwork. We took the kids to the zoo for a bit, we visited the Touch exhibit, the butterfly exhibit and saw the wolves, seals, bears, tigers. We want to go back on weds. to take a few pictures of the bridge they have torn down to replace, we might hit the australian outback while we are there. Noah loves it there. I promised Adrien we would research seals for him to do a paper on for his portfolio for next year. I think Noah wants to do one on tigers.

mini update

mini update

Noah is funny, he is helping get the little ones ready for church today as the husband is working at the church. He told Cami that he would be back in a few minutes and he ‘expects her to be done.’ I laughed at him and he said well, that what you say to us mom. :) I have started going over what we need to finish and planning it for a lite summer. will update when it is done. Gotta go get the kids moving.
